  REVIEW:

Apparently, there is a little known rule in DC, if you work for the government; you are innocent…until investigated.  And once investigated, the most powerful country in the world will unleash its resources…on you.

George Clooney plays a dedicated and loyal FBI undercover field agent that starts to question his assignments.  Unknowingly, his actions will affect a much larger scenario that is being played out across the world.  Two U.S. oil companies plan to merge to become one of the most powerful and influential energy companies in the world…that is, if the U.S. government approves the merger.  Syriana shows several seemingly separate stories that are in actuality intertwined and centered around the struggle for power of the oil assets in the Middle East .  A government agent filled with uncertainty, a grieving financial advisor (Matt Damon) working for an oil prince, two determined heads of companies, and a motivated Muslim cleric grooming suicide bombers all have a hand in the outcome for the struggle for power.

The trailers for Syriana make you believe you are headed to the theater to see an action packed, political thriller.  If action is what you are looking for, you will be sorely disappointed.  You will have to wait a full hour before you get your first taste of action.  Great!  But wait, you will have to wait another hour for the next bit of action.  Unless you are very politically savvy, can easily understand middle-eastern accents and can quickly read subtitles, this movie may be a bit confusing.  Oh yes, and if you make it through the more than two hours of this movie anxious for a good ending, you will be left disappointed again.
